This free, one-off NHS service is available to:
Year 13 students (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008)
Anyone under 25 starting university for the first time as an undergraduate in autumn 2026
Anyone under 25 moving into residential further education accommodation or halls of residence for the first time in autumn 2026
International students under 25 in their first year at a UK university
You'll need two doses, ideally completed before you start your course. First doses are available from late July, with second doses from August. If you've already completed a MenB course in the last five years, you won't need it again — speak to our team if you're unsure.

MenB bacteria can cause meningitis and septicaemia, both of which can lead to sepsis. Risk increases in shared living spaces like halls of residence. The MenACWY vaccine offered in Years 9–10 doesn't protect against MenB, so this is important even if you've already had that one.
